Cooling effect

In production rooms it is not unusual that the temperature in the summer period increases to 25-30 º C, even though the outdoor temperature is only 20 º C. The increase in temperature is caused by heat input, partly from influx of energy from the sun and partly from emission of heat from the machines in the room.

Summer without humidification

The temperature in the room increases when the outdoor air is taken in and is supplied with energy. The increase in temperature is partly caused by influx of light and partly from emission of heat from machines. When the temperature increases the relative humidity decreases in the room.

The increase in temperature causes problems, partly with the working environment and partly in controlling the humidity in the room.

With exhaust/ventilation in the rooms the air is exchanged with outdoor air. If the outdoor air is ex. 20 º C and the relative humidity outside is 50% an increase in temperature in the room to ex. 28 º C will cause a decrease in the relative humidity to app. 31%. Since in most cases a fixed relative humidity of 50-55% RH is wanted, a humidity need occurs which must be covered. By using high-pressure humidification to cover the humidification need it is also possible to reach a considerable temperature reduction in the room.

Temperature reduction

With high-pressure humidification with nozzles, the water is atomized into micron-sized particles, which are immediately absorbed into the air. The evaporation of the water particles requires energy (0.68 kW per liter atomized water). In the case of evaporation and atomization of cold water this energy is taken from the air.  Hence  the air temperature decreases and at the same time the relative humidity increases.

Summer with humidification

When the humidification unit supplies water to the air in the room the temperature will decrease, because the evaporation of water requires energy. The evaporation energy is
taken from the air, thus cooling it.
